第1885章 世界舞台

旧金山莫斯康尼会议中心的主会场里，坐满了来自全球各地的互联网从业者。

黑压压的人群，至少有两千人。

贾瀷雯站在侧台，透过幕布的缝隙看了一眼，手心微微出汗。

“还有五分钟。”工作人员走过来，“贾女士，请准备。”

主持人上台了。

掌声响起。

贾瀷雯迈步走上舞台。

灯光很亮，晃得她几乎看不清台下。

“Eight  years  ago,  I  sat  in  a  small  office  in  Beijing,  listening  to  our  founder  describe  a  vision.”她继续说，“He  said,  the  internet  will  be  filled  with  information,  and  people  will  need  a  tool  to  find  what  they're  looking  for.  That  tool  is  search.”

大屏幕上出现一张老照片——百度最早那间八十平米的办公室，五个人挤在一起，对着白板讨论。

台下响起一阵轻笑。

“We  started  from  scratch.”贾瀷雯说，“No  technology,  no  team,  no  users.  Just  a  vision  and  a  lot  of  hard  work.”

她开始讲述百度的技术演进。

每个技术节点，都配合着当时的代码截图和数据曲线。

台下很安静，所有人都在认真听。

“The  biggest  challenge?  Chinese  language.”她切换到下一页，“English  has  spaces  between  words.  Chinese  doesn't.  '南京市长江大桥'  can  be  interpreted  as  'Mayor  of  Nanjing  and  Yangtze  River  Bridge'  or  'Nanjing  City  and  Yangtze  River  Bridge'.  The  meaning  is  completely  different.”

她展示了一段中文分词算法的代码。

台下有技术背景的人频频点头。

讲完技术，她开始讲用户。

“Search  is  not  just  about  technology.  It's  about  understanding  people.”她放出一张照片，“This  is  a  student  in  a  rural  area  of  China.  He  uses  Baidu  to  find  learning  materials.  This  is  a  small  business  owner  in  Tokyo.  She  uses  Baidu  Japan  to  promote  her  local  shop.”

照片一张张切换。

有中国农村的孩子，有日本街头的店主，有城市里的白领，有退休在家的老人。

“Search  connects  people  with  information.  It  doesn't  matter  who  you  are,  where  you  are,  what  language  you  speak.  If  you  have  a  question,  search  can  help  you  find  the  answer.”

演讲进行到第二十分钟，她讲到最后一部分。

“Baidu's  mission  is  to  make  information  accessible  to  everyone.”她看着台下，“We  started  with  Chinese,  now  we're  expanding  to  Japanese,  and  more  languages  to  come.  We  started  on  desktop,  now  we're  growing  fast  on  mobile.  We  started  with  a  small  team  in  Beijing,  now  we  have  hundreds  of  employees  and  millions  of  users.”

她停顿了一下。

“But  the  original  vision,  never  changed.  We  believe  technology  should  make  information  more  equal,  not  less.  We  believe  search  should  be  neutral,  fast,  and  reliable.  And  we  believe  the  best  way  to  predict  the  future  is  to  create  it.”

掌声响起。
